2012 G1 Belmont Stakes : Free IC Selections

The 2012 edition of the Belmont Stakes is upon us, and unfortunately once again, we will not have a triple crown winner, as I'll Have Another who won both the G1 Kentucky Derby and the G1 Preakness Stakes, has an injured tendon and will be retired to stud. Though there will be a little less shine at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York there are still some very talented 3 year old colts who will be ready to take center stage this Saturday.
The race will be a great battle between Paynter, who is trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert and ridden by Mike Smith, (pictured on left) Dullahan, who is trained by Dale Romans with Javier Castellano in the irons, and Union Rags, who is trained by Michael Matz and ridden by John Velazquez. Paynter is seeking his first Graded stakes victory, while Dullahan is seeking his first win on dirt, and Union Rags is seeking redemption after some poor and troubled showings earlier this year.
It should be an exciting race and I'm really anticipating great efforts by these three in a fairly even race, now that the probable favorite, and probable winner, I'll Have Another, will not have another. I would like to thank him and his connections for the 2012 triple crown memories that were, and the ones that were not. I'll be here waiting and hoping for another one just like him next year.
