2011 Preakness Stakes Recap

The Preakness Stakes has been run, and unfortunately there will be no triple crown possibility in 2011. Shackleford, after showing the way in the Kentucky Derby, gamely held off the late charge of Animal Kingdom, and won the Preakness by a half a length. It looked like in deep stretch that Animal Kingdom could still get there, but it was not to be. Congratulations go out to the owners of Shackleford. It was a great training job by Dale Romans, who earned his first Preakness Stakes victory. Animal Kingdom, broke slowly and was left with far too much to do in deep stretch, but still managed to finish strongly and gained the place. It was a very valiant effort from the son of Leroisdesanimaux. He will get his chance for redemption in this weekends Belmont Stakes, and stands a very good chance of turning the tables on Shackleford. The IC selections did exceptionally well on the undercard, as IC1 won 6 of the 13 races on the day for an outstanding 46% winning percentage. Those that were on board capitalized nicely. The Belmont Stakes will be run this weekend, and it will make for great drama, as Shackleford and Animal Kingdom will both be running to determine America's 3 year old champion. We will have the full card here shortly, which will include a full Belmont Stakes preview. Good luck to all!
