Blinkers Off

Lake Washington and Mt. Rainier, Seattle Washington photo by William King
Hello, my name is Trifecta Billy. Actually, my name is William King. Trifecta Billy is a nickname that was given to me about 25 years ago by a lifelong friend and handicapper who I have nicknamed Capp'n Q. We have hit many, many trifectas over the years, and those who invest in this wager know that the trifecta is selecting the top 3 horses in a horse race in the exact order. For those unfamiliar with horse racing, it is kind of like a lotto ticket that pays if you correctly pick 3 numbers in exact order. It sounds rather easy, but can actually be kind of tricky due to the tremendous amount of possible combinations.
Anyway, there are many ways to invest in the trifecta, including boxes, wheels, part wheels, as well as the old traditional, straight ticket, and I have utilized all of the aforementioned ways of achieving the winning combination, with much success, including the very first one I ever invested in 33 long years ago.

When it came time to select a name for our forum, Trifecta Billy seemed like a perfect choice. I can still hear my friend Capp'n Q, yelling in a slow, deep voice, “Trifecta Billy,” and then giving me a high five, when we knew we were going to cash in our winning trifecta tickets at Longacres race track, in Renton Washington, which is just south of Seattle Washington. Longacres is now gone, having been sold to the Boeing company a couple of decades ago. They tore down the oldest horse racing track on the entire west coast and replaced it with an office park. I can still remember the incredibly majestic views of Mount Rainier to the southeast of the first turn. It was a magical place that brought me many great memories. Here in Seattle we now have a new race track called Emerald Downs, with an even better view of Mount Rainier.

At the urging of my cousin, Dale Bradburn, we have started this blog to build a place for avid horseplayers to collect information, insight, and investment opportunities. We both love horses. There is nothing like seeing these beautiful, competitive animals running as hard as they can, and as fast as they can to reach the finish line in front. We are both passionate about these graceful animals as after all, the “great game” of horse racing would not exist without them. Great horses like Zenyatta, Goldikova, and old timers from my past, like Captain Condo and Firesweeper, always refused to lose, and would always unleash their competitive spirit on the racetrack.

As a firm believer in the "Master Mind" philosophy created by the great Napoleon Hill back in the early part of the 20th century, I feel that 2 minds are better than 1, and 3 minds are better than 2, and so on. I also knew that if we created a place for like minded individuals to meet, that we could create some amazing investment opportunities. Horseplayers have opinions, and collectively those opinions can have amazing financial implications if processed, and implemented correctly. We look forward to meeting those who love the "game" like we do, that might be interested in our ideas and the great opportunities that lie ahead of us.
